By Design Unit @ DMU
schedule22nd Jun 21

Do you know how to:

  • Assess and improve your organization’s product design capability
  • Manage research and development projects effectively
  • Work effectively and efficiently in university-industry product design partnerships?

Can you secure long term value from innovations through:

  • Design for sustainability
  • Design for manufacturing and assembly
  • Recognising and resolving the need for project finance and funding?

These issues have been found to be critical for UK small businesses to be able to successfully commercialise design innovations.

Design experts from the Impacting Business by Design programme will be sharing their insights into these topics with the public through a free webinar, 24th June, 18:00-20:00 (GMT). Through a lively debate, they will share critical insights based on their experience of supporting 50 UK small businesses with Research England grant funding since April 2018. “We’re keen for them to join the debate, as it’s our mission to help them answer their questions about how to bring products successfully to market, and offer support to businesses that need it”.

“The debate should be useful if you are an existing or prospective designer or entrepreneur, and will signpost good principles, practice and resources that could be useful to their business and career”.

Panellists for the debate include members of the IBBD design team and other invited experts.

Event organizer Patrick Keen said:

“New product innovation is an art, and there’s an important place for specialist support from Impacting Business by Design to help small businesses identify and overcome the challenges of new product development. They have the knowledge and skills to give appropriate inputs, and grant funding helps reduce the risks”.
